Late in the evening on September 16th, Females for Firearms met to begin our VT demonstration. We chalked outlines of bodies on the sidewalks around campus to represent the 5 faculty members and 27 students murdered at Virginia Tech. In addition to chalking, Females for Firearms set up a booth in the Memorial Union to talk about our demonstration.
The goals of this event were to inform students that the University of North Dakota has a No Weapons policy similar to that of the Virginia Tech campus, get students interested in learning how to protect themselves, and to spark debate within the University about permitting conceal and carry on campus. The demonstration attracted the attention of the local news channel who came to the Union to interview a member of Females for Firearms, Kari Shiffman.
